HelixIntel was selected as one of 11 Buffalo-based startups “drafted” to the Series B[uffalo] team at the inaugural Buffalo Startup Draft on April 23.
The event, held at Seneca One Tower as the culmination of Buffalo Startup Week, brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and community members to celebrate local companies reaching major growth milestones.
A Fun Way to Recognize Growth
Buffalo Bills legend and color commentator Eric Wood took the stage to announce the draft picks, recognizing companies that raised significant capital, surpassed revenue benchmarks, or created substantial local jobs in 2025.
HelixIntel operates from its Larkinville headquarters and serves a growing roster of insurance partners across the country. The recognition reflects the momentum the team has built over the past year.
“Buffalo has been absolutely key to our success, and we’re proud to build this company here,” said Jon DeWald, CEO and Co-Founder of HelixIntel. “The talent, the community, the ecosystem. It all matters. This recognition belongs to the partners and customers who’ve believed in our mission to transform how insurance companies prevent risk, and to the Buffalo community that’s supported us from day one.”
Building in Buffalo
Series B[uffalo], a media platform created by the 43North Foundation, spotlights the people and companies shaping Buffalo’s economic future. The Buffalo Startup Draft was designed as a fun way to honor local innovation and the entrepreneurs building scalable companies in Western New York.
Other companies drafted alongside HelixIntel included Food Nerd, Guidesly, Vicora, PhysicianX, Arbol, wellconnected, Edenesque, QAS AI, Pop Biotechnologies, and Twipes.
The event featured a fireside chat with Eric Wood and an after-party at Other Half Brewing, both sponsored by Series B[uffalo] and the 43North Foundation.
